Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, 11, 14 NIV
THERE is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. There is a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them.
There is a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.
How many people remember their 14th birthday and the events around that day; Christmas three years ago or better still what happened on Tuesday last week? Do you remember the exact time you woke up, the people you interacted with, the meals you ate, the exact time you smiled, frowned or became angry?
Every single day is different; despite our best predications we can never quite tell what will happen and how the day will end. Life is not constant, things change.
Whatever period you may be going through, a time of depression, happiness, illness, exams or anticipation, one thing is certain you won’t always be in the state you are in now. GOD pretty much designed our life to be a virtual constant a never ending journey of different emotional states.
Take heed as Solomon so wisely advised that there is a season for everything. If you are in a season of uncertainty, depression or fear, be rest assured that you will soon arrive at a train station where these particular loads will be unloaded.
It could be as soon as the next hour, but with certainty, I can assure you, the days designated for Easter or Independence day will come and pass, just like they did the year before and they have done in years gone past and will do in years to come.
If you are in a state of happiness or delight that too shall come to pass and end, so if that is the station you find yourself in today, embrace it and thank the LORD for the delight he has brought. For this too shall end for a period and come back again.
Let us therefore accept the seasons of our life. Let us live with that knowledge that everything is for a time. As we embrace the happy moments with delight, let us brace ourselves for the bad moments, like JOB let us be in constant prayer, never leaving the alter room of GOD, in disgust, frustration and or general sense of betrayal like many feel, when things begin to go wrong.
How many people have you heard say, ‘I am so angry with GOD, he let me down’? They even go further to say, ‘I won’t be going to church anymore, I just can’t forgive him’. Learn from JOB; pray that your season of despair ends and whatever lessons or place you were meant to be transported to that it all happens sooner than its intended course, which may be very short or long depending on how you react to your circumstances.
The things we face today will end; let’s patiently ride out the storm. Verse 14 says “That each of them may eat and drink and find satisfaction in all their toil – this is the gift of GOD”.
May our LORD and father help each one of us to find our purpose through the seasons he allows us to pass through; after all, what can be more important than fulfilling the will of GOD for our lives. May you find meaning in whatever station you may be at.
Verse 11: “For he has made everything beautiful in its time”.
Be blessed.
