The Minister of State in the President’s Office Simon Khaya Moyo has urged churches to respect the laws of the country to avoid humiliation.
Speaking at the 1st year anniversary celebrations of Indigenous Pastors Fraternity of Zimbabwe (IPFZ) held at Mbare Netball Complex at the weekend, Khaya Moyo said churches should respect the laws of the country.
“I urge all churches to respect the laws of this country and not to be wolves in sheep’s clothing,” he said.
He said churches must be places of worship and salvation and not self serving entities where desperate worshippers are duped.
“People are coming to the churches to be served from the devil’s machinations.” said Khaya Moyo.
Khaya Moyo, who is also the Zanu-PF national spokesperson, said churches should have constitutions that safeguard congregants.
“The church should not be a place where people are subjected to the whimsical and self serving desires of individuals,” he said.
“Churches should have constitutions that safeguard them from abuse by those in authority including, and in particular, founding fathers of those churches.”
Khaya Moyo said the Government was committed to working with IPFZ to improve the socio-economic well being of Zimbabweans.
Leader of the initiative Bishop Munyaradzi Pundo said they would work with the Government in developing the country.
“We will work with Government in uplifting the well being of the country and we will pray for the sanctions to be removed.”
