The Zimbabwe Council of churches is going to hold a massive national prayer for the Zimbabwe elections next week Sunday.

“We request the Church throughout the world to join the Church in Zimbabwe on an Ecumenical Cathedral on the 21st July 2013, to pray for the Elections and Peace in Zimbabwe.

“Beloved of God, the God that we serve is a God of miracles and he is able to create something good out of chaos,” ZCC said in a statement Wednesday.

The spiritual grouping said the prayer is aimed at appealing for spiritual guidance ahead of the poll date.

ZCC said there do not see the sense in the country’s political parties and their supporters engaging in violence.

Zimbabwe elections since 2000 had been charecterised with political violence coming from political party leaders who would have incited their supporters.

The church said this must not be repeated in this year’s elections.
